Pulmonary Fibrosis affects over 70,000 people in the UK and still has no known cause or cure. Early diagnosis is critical but unfortunately life expectancy is still only 3-5 years. Did you know it existed? I certainly didn’t! So, I would like to use this opportunity to raise awareness of this life-limiting illness whilst hopefully raising some well-deserved and needed funds for The British Lung Foundation.
Why am I doing this? Unfortunately, back in December 2019 my grandad, John Phelps, lost his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. As a family the diagnosis came very late in this horrible illness and we had little time to prepare for his passing, literally days from being admitted to hospital.
“Grandad John” was a very giving and generous person. Always supporting charitable and worthy causes personally and through his Freemasonry. Those that had the privilege of knowing him will understand just how incredible a person he was. So, in memory of him and his charitable activities I have decided to take part in the UK 24 Hour 3 Peaks Challenge in June, COVID-19 permitting!
Please, please donate if you can. Give as little or as much as you are able and help us fundraise for this amazing charity. I am not a hiker, climber or mountaineer and am expecting this to be difficult, but it is nothing in comparison to what he went through.
I will not be doing this alone; I have recruited a couple of good friends to help me along the way. So, let me introduce you to the Team.
