Joe Bartels had a bad fall while hiking on June 10th. He suffered numerous broken bones and internal injuries and spent almost two weeks in the ICU undergoing several surgeries while there.
You might know Joe and not realize it.
Joe created HikeArizona.com. He's an avid hiker and his website is a go-to resource for anybody who enjoys hiking and other outdoor activites in Arizona and beyond.
Have you ever heard of the "Wave Cave"? Joe gave it that name! The Four Peaks "Motherlode"? Yup - Joe again. There's a few more you've heard of too!
The point is, Joe's contribution to hiking in Arizona over the past 20 years is invaluable. And now he needs our help.
He is out of the hospital and back at home with family. But he has months of therapy ahead of him. Medical bills are overwhelming and insurance coverage is a constant fight. His ongoing care toward full recovery will be lengthy and expensive.
His doctors are optimistic and so is he. But the more care he gets early on, the quicker he will recover. And that's where your help comes in. Any amount that you are able to contribute will go toward paying uncovered medical bills already incurred, and more importantly, will assure that he can be treated by the physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists required to get him back to full health as soon as possible.

Please consider helping him in his journey to get back hiking the trails.
