The dream of helping children from desperately poor homes, orphaned, abandoned or simply needing love, care, education and support is what Suluhisho is based on.
We all know that education is the absolute heart of all of this. Without this opportunity of learning and attending school the poverty cycle will never be broken.
The Kenyan system is very different to what we are used to here in Australia.
Once the children have completed their primary school exams they are then offered a position at a school which is generally far away, meaning they have to board. This of course means more money BUT the opportunity is available to attend high school which CHANGES LIVES. Education is a the tool for socio-economic empowerment.
This year we have 7 incredible teenagers that will be attending high school. Their lives will be changed forever. Their opportunities and life options will be greater than ever before.
These kids are so very hard working with consistently impressive performance at school.
They clearly understand that this is the surest light at the end of the tunnel of illiteracy and poverty. It provides them with an opportunity to equally grow and subsequently contribute to the development of their respective communities.
We have consistently stayed this cause over the years courtesy of the ongoing, generous support we get from our sponsors and donors.
Term 1 2018 commences on the 3rd January and the cost of fees and school books is $4000 for all the children. We can't do this alone and require some support from all of Suluhishos friends.
The entire cost for the whole year of fees is $6245.
