Decrescendo - Short Film

What are we doing?

 

We are creating art! To be more specific, we are making a short film called "Decrescendo". We are extremely excited to be working on this and getting so close to bringing it to life! We will be shooting this in the Chicagoland area in November of 2021. With the help of all you generous people, we hope to create a beautiful project to hopefully be presented at film festivals all around the world.

 

What is Decrescendo?

 

A story about accepting life, and all its terrors, as a beautiful experience.

 

Logline:

A female pianist is taken captive by an older male piano teacher; with only a piano for company, she begins to play her last performance.

 

Synopsis:

A pianist wakes up in a room with only a piano. A hidden figure watches her on a monitor. 
She plays songs that represent different memories in her life. She mentally and physically deteriorates.
Before she dies, her captor tells her his motive.

 

ABOUT US:

 

Alana Areyzaga (Writer/Director): Alana is a senior at Columbia College Chicago and is pursuing a BA in Filmmaking with a concentration in Cinema Directing. She hails from Wheaton, Illinois. She has directed numerous short films, documentaries, theatrical productions, and web series. Additionally, she has worked on a great number of films as a Key Makeup Artist and SFX Makeup Artist. Alana has a passion for storytelling and the artistry of filmmaking, and especially enjoys collaborating with actors to bring characters to life. Decrescendo is a passion project that is very close to her heart.

 

Darsh Thakker (Producer): Darsh is a senior pursuing a BFA in Producing at Columbia College Chicago. He was born and raised with a Hollywood mindset in Orange County, California. With his business partner, Avi Zephyra, he runs a production agency corporation and two narrative production companies respectively titled Chaotic Neutral LTD, Captured By The Views LLC, and Arrival Studios LLC. He has gained a lot of experience very early in his college career by working on sets as much as he can. In the past three years, he has contributed to over 70 film sets. He aspires to tell stories that are not only entertaining but also meaningful.

 

What we need:

 

We need your help! Even though we are doing our best to keep costs low, filmmaking can be a very expensive business. Our cast and crew are very generously giving their time and talent for free, there are still certain things that we need to use money for.

 

Camera & Lighting: This will be used to make our actors and our set look as beautiful as possible.

 

Sound: In order to know what our lovely characters are saying, we will need to hire a sound mixer to capture the lines.

 

Locations: Since we are filming in a music studio, they will be shutting down to let us shoot there. We would need to pay them for the time they have to be closed.

 

Catering: Most of our lovely cast and crew members are working for free, we want to be able to provide them with great food on set as compensation for their generosity.

 

Post-Production: Production is just half the work! The film will only be as good as our post-production team! Once we are done filming, we will hand it off to the editor, sound designer, colorist, and the composer.

 

Distribution: Now that the film is completed and ready to go, we would really love to send it to as many film festivals as possible. Festival submissions do cost money and in order to send it to multiple festivals and competitions, we would need as many donations as possible. We may even decide to premiere it on a few streaming services, so that you all can see what you helped to create!!
