Speranza Township Required Changes

Speranza Animal Rescue, located in Monroe Township, has been operating since 2012. The township has now decided that we fit the definition of a "kennel” and we were required to apply for a Conditional Use Permit. Fortunately, the application was approved. Unfortunately Speranza is now required to make tens of thousands of dollars worth of changes to the existing facility. Some of the projects are short term and some are long term.
The first thing that we have to do is install a 2,500 feet long, 6 feet tall, chain-link, perimeter fence around the rescue, a few hundred feet of wooden privacy fence and some 8 foot sound barrier fencing. This is estimated to cost around $25,000 and needs to be completed by July 24, 2016.
We have one year to finish our addition, adding a handicapped accessible bathroom and an entire septic system. Estimates to come for the septic system.
As much as we hate to see this much money going towards our facility and not directly towards saving dogs, we won’t be able to keep saving them if we can’t meet the conditions and stay open. So, we are once again turning to you, our supporters, to help us. We have more than 20,000 Facebook followers. If you could all send just $1, we would have nearly enough money to build the fence. Starting March 1st, we will be raising money to go towards the township required improvements. There are several ways to doanate.

We are also, of course, looking for fencing companies interesting in donating materials to the cause. Speranza Animal Rescue is a 501c3 approved Non-Profit and all donations (monetary and in-kind donations) are tax-deductible.
We will keep you all updated on the progress of the funds drive, the projects going on and the deadlines we are facing. If we raise more money for the fence than is required (due to in-kind donations) all left over money will be used for the long-term projects; installing the septic system and finishing the addition.
This is going to be a series of big projects, leading to big changes in the way we function daily. We are taking it all in stride and are just thankful that we will be able to continue our mission; saving lives and completing families.
Words cannot express our gratitude for your outpouring of support while going through the township hearings and getting to this point. We know that with your continued support we will be able to pull this all off.
