Hello, my name is Da’Sonya Murchison. I’d never thought I’d be making a gofundme account for my 10 year old son, but here I am. Please let me share with you our story. On July 4th my son Martell was given a firework by a teenager and told to light and throw it. The firework was meant to be placed in a tube and shot out from the ground. Being only 10 my son did what he was instructed and before he could throw the firework it exploded in his hand, blowing all 5 fingers off. Looking up and seeing my son screaming and running to me holding what was once a normal hand now blown into unrecognizable pieces made my heart drop it felt like my soul was snatched from my body We were all in a panic and disbelief. After Long deliberation the surgeons agreed that amputating what was left was the best option. Spending those restless nights in ICU and hearing him speak of never being able to do some of his favorite activities again like play sports and video games broke me. My son just wants to have a normal childhood again. With that being said I am asking for any donations that I can get to give my son a new hand and help him feel whole again.
