For the last 15 years I have been volunteering with homeless charities. Since being in the US I have seen how easy it is for people to lose their homes. Medical bills and job redundancies are a huge cause for women  of all ages to lose everything. I was then appalled  to discover 85% of women living on the streets have been subjected to sexual violence and beatings.

12 women who sleep rough, and who want to help end this cycle have agreed to come into a temporary space to tell their story. Each of them have very personal stories and had interesting lives before they lost their homes. From an ex girlfriend of Prince who suffered from a brain Aneurysm to a Native American young lady who was assaulted as she was moved to from reservation to reservation, each woman will share their life growing up and tell the story of how quick it was to lose everything and just how vulnerable they are at night.

There will be nothing that makes you aware that these women live on the streets apart from their words. The idea is to break the barrier of seeing women who live on the streets as any different to any woman who is vulnerable. They are not all drug addicts or mentally ill. Most women we have met have lost everything because of medical bills or abuse at home.

This is a call to action film not just a labor of love, there will be information  given for everyone on how to help by giving time or money.

All the money we raise will be given to the women for donating their time and for the cars and petrol to get them there.

We also need to pay a little bit of money for electricity and food for the women on the day. Any money we do not use will be donated to the Downtown Women's Shelter.

Natalie and myself are grateful for any donations no matter how small.. Thankyou.
