Keeping Peggy & Henry's Dream Alive

Donation protected
As the story was told to me, they'd known each other for thirty years but it wasn't until Henry invited Peggy to visit the Clark Art Museum seven years ago that their connection really happened. "She let me drone on and on about the art and its history", Henry told me. "only after we had left the museaum did she tell me  that her degree had been  English /Fine Arts!" "We were pretty much inseparable after that."

Peggy and Henry, both in their early 70s, realized their dream of moving to Heath, MA just two years ago, and on a wing and a prayer they found their little home with their dog Squirt, who died last summer.

They didn't take long to settle into their new community. Jumping in with both feet, they joined the Heath Agricultural Society and became volunteers of the Fair. Peggy cared for the flowers, bringing beauty to the fairgrounds, and was Ring Steward of the goat show.

But in the fall of 2017, Peggy began having health complications. Tests revealed she had cancer, and the cancer had already spread. Tragically, Peggy would not recover and in early 2018 her death was imminent. On February 9th, Henry was by Peggy's side; holding her hand, he whispered "I'm here and I love you." Peggy died a couple minutes later.

Peggy was a life-long horse lover and a Master Gardener. She poured love into the gardens that surround their house, making it a home. Their combined income made it possible for them to afford their dream home. Without life insurance and with their shared income instantly cut in half, Henry needs our help to be sure he can keep their dream alive and stay in Heath, where he and Peggy found their community.  Those of us who have made it to Heath understand why it is so special and why it matters so much to Henry to be able to stay.

Henry's story has touched me because I have lived a similar story. Jeff and I had only been in Heath three years when he died in 2015, and my income was instantly cut in half. I feared I would lose our home in Heath; our dream. Go Fund Me and your generosity helped make it possible for me to stay. Now it is my turn to give back.  Especially after great loss, it is our community that holds us up and allows us to keep going. I hope you will join me in helping to ensure Henry and their new dog Twister can keep their home in Heath, and the dream that Peggy and Henry shared alive.
