Henry & Jack's Fight
Donation protected
Jessica has been my best friend for almost 10 years now. Her and her husband Kevin have 4 kids together. Their youngest are identical twins, Henry & Jack, who are 3.5 months old.
Last Wednesday morning, their world turned upside down when both babies were rushed to Boston Children’s Hospital for fevers, vomiting, and seizures. They received the unthinkable diagnosis of Bacterial Meningitis; not just for one baby but for both.
Both babies have been through more this past week than we have in our adult lifetimes. Both have suffered seizures, multiple strokes, abscesses and inflammation in the brain. They are being cared for by an incredible team of doctors, nurses, neurosurgeons, infectious disease doctors and more at the best hospital in the world. But that still doesn’t ease the pain Jess, Kevin and their family are going through.
With Jessica being a nurse she understands a lot, which can be helpful but also overwhelming. The boys are still experiencing seizures despite multiple anti-seizure medications but according to the neurosurgeon, that is par for the course. The neurosurgeons are hopeful there will be no long term effects on the boys. Unfortunately we may not know for years.
They are expected to be at Children’s for another 21 days at least which leaves Jess out of work and Kevin’s business on hold. The last thing they need to be worrying about is finances and endless medical bills. With the constant outpouring of support and offers to help, Katie and I have thought it would be best to organize a platform to direct people’s amazing offers of kindness. Thank you all for your incredible generosity.
