My name is Dan Langness, uncle to Henrik. I am starting this funding page on behalf of Henrick Westerholm (with permission from Janna and Danny).
Henrik is a 4-year-old boy who had a pretty normal life. But, the past couple months he has been a bit more tired than normal and had and a cough that just wouldn't go away. You can read more on his Caring Bridge page, but here is part of the story.
On Wednesday December 27th, 2017, Janna and Danny brought Henrik into the walk-in clinic for what they thought was going to be a routine in-and-out, maybe get an antibiotic and go home. Based on a few more symptoms, the doctors decided to do a basic lab test called a CBC. Within minutes of receiving very abnormal lab results and seeing the concern from our pediatrician... Janna asked him to just tell it to them straight... his response, "it's likely leukemia." Their hearts sink. It's your worst fear. It's unreal. They can't even process it. They're hopeful that it's not. They were immediately sent over to the Children's Hospital ready for an inpatient admission. Janna asked the nurse which pediatrician is on call. She says his primary doctor will be doctor Kobrinsky... her heart sinks again. Dr. K is a pediatric oncologist.
Now, for people that don't know Dr. K, we've learned over the past 3 days that he's the most amazing, brilliant, caring doctor that is so passionate about what he does, but no one wants their primary doctor to be a pediatric oncologist. They got into the room and got settled and as Dr. Kobrinsky is assessing Henrik, Janna looks at him and asks, "This isn't anything else, is it?" With his hands on Henrik's little tummy he looks at them and says with certainty "This is cancer."
Henrik is currently receiving chemotherapy, something no 4-year-old should ever experience. The plan for the future is to follow the standard treatment plan, a multiyear journey.
Funds will go to the Westerholm family to be used for medical expenses.

I know it might be a cliché, but we need you to donate blood! Dr. K told Janna and Danny that if Henrik had not received blood that first day, he likely would have died. Please donate blood.
