Help With House Fire
Donation protected
When you hear of a disaster striking, you never expect it to affect someone close to you. You don’t want to believe that someone you care about now has to recover from a great loss. This was not the case when a fire engulfed a home recently.
I will begin by expressing my extreme gratitude that no lives were lost during this event. In that regard, it could have had a much worse outcome. The fire took place in a home that was attached to that of my friend’s. A home she shared with her three daughters and a close relative. My friend was awakened before daylight by the voices of firefighters and the sounds of them breaking windows in the home right next to hers. She performed the heroic act that many of us mothers do and woke her daughters and quickly got them out of their home to safety.
Here’s the thing. When all of the sirens die down and you’re temporarily relocated, the reality hits. You did nothing wrong. You were going along being a responsible member of society and now this. Your home is covered in smoke, yes even the brand new flooring you just had installed in your kitchen; all of your belongings are smoke-infested, the walls, everything. So many things will have to be replaced. Imagine clothing and necessities for a total of (5) females! The girls are avid and competitive basketball players. What to do about their uniforms and all of their equipment? They’re stellar students who take school seriously. There are books and supplies and backpacks to consider. To top it off (2) of them had already been diagnosed with asthma. “Will it ever be safe to live here, now?,” one wonders.
We can try to plan as well as we can for the unexpected, however, in most cases we underestimate the magnitude of the devastation. That’s why I am reaching out to you to ask that you find it in your heart to help this family to recover their losses and return their lives to some sense of normalcy. I am always so amazed at how much we can get accomplished when we work together. When everyone does just a small part, we make a big difference in the lives of others. I and the family thank you in advance for being willing to donate as your heart leads you.
