Carrying out my lil' bro's wishes

Donation protected
This spring my seemingly healthy, younger brother fell off scaffolding while working and cracked 7 ribs.  His x-rays revealed some unexplained masses and over the course of a few very stressful months he was told, at 40 years old, that he has metastasized renal cancer.  After being approved at the local hospital for 80% coverage, doctors quickly removed one kidney covered by a large mass.  However, without further treatment this aggressive cancer may soon take this wonderful man from his loving daughters, family and friends.  None of us can bear to imagine life without this man who truly lives for the ones he loves.  He has been such a strength and support in our lives that I must find a way to do the same for him. He is currently unable to work as a carpenter due to the job’s physical stress on his body in his current health condition.  Due to the fact that he had no previous insurance prior to this incident he cannot qualify for health care benefits at this time.

Our family and several friends have provided support to keep his household functioning, while he painstakingly seeks Medicaid approval.

The cancer is aggressive; with an 8%, 5-year survival rate. The treatment doctor’s are suggesting is called IL2, http://www.cancerguide.org/rcc_il2.html

If he responds well to this treatment it could extend his life by 10 years.  However, this treatment is only offered in a few areas, the closest place to us is in Maryland at the University of Maryland Medical Center.  Medicaid has yet to approve him for out of state treatment and he only has a 2-week window to receive treatment according to his oncologist due to the stage and aggressive nature of the cancer. The medical center will not schedule his treatment until he can finance it as 1 session will cost $100,000.00 dollars (Doctors say he will need 2 treatments).

Please help us raise as much money as we can as soon as possible so that he can undergo this very expensive treatment to hopefully extend our time with him.

We believe since he is young and strong he will prevail if he can get the treatment.  We would like to believe it was fate that he fell and cracked his ribs so that he could have a fighting chance to beat this cancer.  Please help us to give this amazing force in our lives a fighting chance!  With your contributions I am hopeful my brother will get to see his two loving daughters graduate from middle and highschool and continue to be an amazing gift, son, brother, father, uncle, partner, friend, musician, artist and light in our lives!
