Tommie's Medical Fund

My mother, Tommie Burchard, was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2013, and has been on oxygen off and on for about a year and a half. For the last two months, she's had to use it 24/7. At home, she has a large concentrator with 50 feet of tubing connected to her cannula. The portable oxygen tanks she uses for trips to medical appointments last a little over an hour each. The last time she went to the doctor, by the time she got home, she'd used most of five tanks. Her pulmonologist recently ordered a portable concentrator for trips away from home. It's a device that's more efficient in oxygen delivery, and doesn't require oxygen tanks. The downside is that it's not covered by insurance.

The best concentrator for her needs is several thousand dollars, and the ongoing maintenance also means more medical costs.

A lot of her family and friends have asked how they can help and the best way to donate money, so we're setting up this fundraising page to make it easy for folks to contribute. She has multiple medical costs, but this medical device could have the biggest positive impact right now. We've set the goal a little higher to help cover the cost of the concentrator and maintenance, other medical expenses, as well as to account for the donation fees.

Thank you in advance for all your support, prayers, and volunteers who help her from near and far! Everything you've done has helped on one level or another, and our family is grateful to you. Thank you in advance no matter how much or how little you are able to donate today!
