Need Help Getting Back On Our Feet

On December 27th, literally just days after we celebrated Christmas with friends and family, we were the victims of a home invasion and child abduction. A sick and disgusting human being broke into our house in the middle of the night and abducted our daughter. We thankfully got her back early the next day. Physically, she was unharmed...something I thank God for every day. She is a STRONG kid and dealing with the whole event very well. Her mother and I continue to shower her with love and make sure she feels safe, some days are better than others.

For the first week after this happened, we hopped around from hotel to hotel because no one in my family felt safe in our house with the piece of garbage still walking the streets. After a week of staying in hotels and going on drive by's with police hoping to jar a memory loose from my poor daughters mind, all leading to absolutely NO leads and NO results...yes if you live in the Homewood/Flossmoor area, there is still a predator walking amongst you. We ultimately decided that the only way our family would ever feel any measure of security would be to move as far away from that house as possible.

We were not in a position financially to move at that time, but that did not matter, it was absolutely necessary. I hope no one reading this has ever felt unsafe in their own home, it is a horrible feeling and it was magnified infinitely by what had happened to my daughter...staying in our house, staying in our neighborhood, even staying in the same state was simply not an option...anyone in a similar situation should and likely would have done the same. That being said, the move did not come without consequence. I have lost a significant portion of my income. Luckily I work remotely as a digital marketing consultant for clients in and outside of my local area, but the move meant giving up my local business and the reputation I had built up in the area and starting over in a new city. The move also meant having to make two monthly payments to keep a roof over our heads...something I have sadly not been able to do, we are 5 months overdue on our mortgage and facing foreclosure if we do not get caught up.

This is probably the most humbling and even embarrassing thing I have ever had to do, but my family means more to me than my ego. The bottom line is, we need help! Your donations will go to helping us get caught up with the mortgage payments on the house we left so we can sell it and NEVER have to think about it again and to help pay down our credit cards which are completely maxed out. I/We are not deadbeats, we are good people whose lives got turned upside down by some piece of you know what that does not deserve to walk the streets. We are trying everything we can to get back on our feet but are so far behind that we will never get out in front of this without a little help. Anything that you can spare would have a HUGE impact on us and we would be forever grateful. Furthermore, the moment we are in a position to repay the generosity, we absolutely will do so.
