Saving Sawyer

Sawyer is my five year old, shih-tzu. He’s my shadow, my adventure buddy, my partner-in-crime. He’s my gentle soul, my fierce protector and my constant companion. He’s my 16-pound fluff ball with a human (sized) heart.
Together, we’ve cheered up senior citizens in nursing homes, and played chase with the little humans around the yard. Sawyer always leads, and I follow. Whether we’re in doctors offices, airports, or out on a walk, Sawyer captures the heart of anyone he meets. He intuitively seeks out the hearts in need of a little extra love. It takes no time at all for strangers to swoon over his sweet and affectionate personality. He’s my angel in a fur coat.
Last week, I received a heart-breaking phone call from Sawyer’s vet. What I thought was a bad case of pink eye ended up being something much, much worse. Sawyer was diagnosed with an aggressive case of large cell lymphoma, most likely stage III or stage IV.
Although I could never repay the amount of love Sawyer has shown me the past five years, I owe it to him to give him a fighting chance at defying the odds and beating cancer.
An extensive chemotherapy plan, ranging over the course of the next 6 months, is Sawyer's only chance of making it to his 6th birthday. His weekly treatment plan is already in motion but I’m struggling to come up with 12,000 dollars needed to help Sawyer fight for his life.
So I’m reaching out to you, human-to-human, one pet lover to another, no donation is too small, even if it’s just a dollar and a simple prayer. Sawyer has many more hearts to meet, more kindness to spread, and more love to give.
