Help Save Brenden's Life

Last Thursday our close-knit family was shattered when our 16-year-old son, Brenden, tried to run away from home and commit suicide.  

We do not qualify for assistance in our area beyond our private health insurance, and they may not cover the care Brenden needs to save his life.  On top of that, despite owning her own business, we aren't sure if Ashley is going to be able to work while making sure Brenden gets the care that he needs. 

Thanks to the help of friends, we were able to locate him quickly. Despite finding him, Brenden refused to come home and we had to get the Sheriff's involved to make sure Brenden was safe. 

We watched in horror, as our son crossed four lanes of highway traffic to try to elude us and police. No parent should ever have to watch their child put their lives in jeopardy. It is one of the most horrible things we've ever had to witness raising our kids. 

We are very thankful that the Sheriff's department was able to get Brenden in custody and glad that they took his statements of suicidal attempts seriously so Brenden can get the help that he needs. 

Brenden has been inpatient for mental health treatment for a week now, and our insurance company isn't guaranteeing they will cover the help Brenden so desperately needs. We are now at the point where we have to decide between getting Brenden the care he needs and being able to provide for the rest of our family as well. 

Our son's life is the most important thing to us, and we want to make sure that he can get the help he needs so he doesn't try to harm himself again.  It's going to be a long hard road to get Brenden back to even, and our entire family needs all the support that we can get. This event has rocked all of us to our core. 

We are broken hearted that Brenden was struggling so silently on his own. We love him with all our hearts and have been proud to have the honor to see him grow up. 

To make sure that he can participate in his treatment plan inpatient, and then attend a partial hospitalization program that he needs to attend for another 3-4 weeks, we need your help.  It's very humbling to have to ask for help when you need it, but our son's life is at stake. 

Ashley is not going to be able to work a lot during Brenden's treatment, and Wayne is losing hours at work due to family counseling appointments and meetings with Brenden's treatment team.

On top of that Brenden's treatment program is over an hour away, and he will have to be dropped off and picked up every day which is costing us quite a bit in gas money as well.

Without your help, we may not be able to get Brenden the mental health treatments he needs, despite our having health insurance. We have managed the best we can up until this point, but we want to make sure our son gets the resources he needs, and that we still have a home for the rest of our family due to the high unexpected cost of the treatments and the loss of work while Brenden gets help.

This whole incident was extremely out of the blue, and all we know at this point is that Brenden's life is the most important thing to us and that we need help to make sure he gets the mental health care he needs so much. 



Every little bit will help us get Brenden the treatments he needs, and make sure our family as a whole survives this ordeal.
