Chemo, Dialysis, & Funeral Bills
On July 5th, 2017, our dad Matthew Nelsen was unofficially diagnosed with spinal cancer. After a series of ER visits and worsening health, it was determined that he was going in to renal failure. His kidneys are so packed with stones and sludge that they stopped working. After weeks in the hospital, and numerous tests he has been sent hom with a nephrostomy tube draining his right kidney, and he receives dialysis every other day. He was not sent home because he was medically stable, he was sent home because insurance stopped paying. He has been out of three jobs for over a month, and we are struggling to make ends meet. Nothing matters more right now than the ability to pay for his medication, and for his other medical bills. Along with the side affects from the dialysis and renal failure, he is now suffering from right sided weakness, extreme pain in his lower back, and double vision. He provides all the income for our family, and his generosity over the years has covered many other families. A firefighter devoted to saving the lives of others, a corrections officer dedicated to keeping your worst nightmares in their cells, and a laborer dedicated to fixing anything put in front of him, needs your help. As of now there is no end date for the dialysis, and no accurate prognosis. We need to beat the renal failure in order to determine if there is still something going on in the base of his spine. Anything helps, even if all you can give is a prayer.
