Help Marjo fight cancer "beast"

Donation protected
My mom would never ever ask for help like this, but the rest of my family and I have stepped in as medical bills keep piling on and many more are to come!

Marjo’s Journey

After two bouts with cancer and a 15 year remission, “the beast” is back with a vengeance.  Her third fight started in early 2016 when we discovered her liposarcoma was back.  With a frantic search and the help of her friend Mary Jo, we found an amazing Doctor at UCLA. With Dr. Eilbur we found out how serious her cancer really is and “there is NO CURE, only treatment”. In September of 2016 she underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her abdomen that weighed 20lbs.

So, here we are one year later and “the beast” returns again, and with more venom than last time.  After an unsuccessful trial on a chemo pill, my mom is now on an aggressive chemo known as the “red devil”.  She will be starting her fourth round soon in hopes of “putting out the fire” before her next surgery.

The next surgery will be a potentially high risk surgery, in which she will most likely lose a kidney.  Dr. Eilbur thinks this could possibly be her last surgery, since four in total is a lot for one body to handle.

My mom is the kindest, gentlest, most generous, most selfless, most warm person we know!  A teacher for 37 years, she devoted her life to helping others (and she was the kind of teacher a kid remembers forever – judging by the shoebox full of letters from students telling her how much she meant to them).  To her family, her friends, her students, she is a constant inspiration of the kind of person we all hope to be.

Now, my mom is fighting for her life.  As you can imagine, the chemo treatments and surgeries mean huge hospital bills, not to mention the travel expenses for getting there.  Because she is who she is – selfless to the core – she would never ask for help herself.  But those of us who have experienced my mom constantly helping us our entire lives, we want to be able to lend a hand in return – by raising money to cover the daunting, ever-mounting out-of-pocket expenses.  All support and love and prayers for my mom are greatly appreciated!
