Help Maddy Conquer Cancer

Let me tell you a few things about Maddy. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She has such a gentle and kind spirit that is hard to compare to anyone else I know. She finds happiness in doing the littlest things like lip syncing to Mamma Mia, cuddling on the couch with her dogs, and especially just catching up with her family and friends. We LOVE our Maddy!

Over the summer, Maddy began to not feel very well. After a few short weeks her stomach became very distended and she was admitted to the E.R. After blood tests and an MRI, it was discovered that Maddy had a large cyst in her abdomen. We were initially told that it was most likely a non-cancerous cyst. But that it did need to be removed via surgery. We were relieved that it was most likely not cancerous.

Maddy was set up with a surgical oncologist who was 90 percent positive that it WAS cancer. Our family was heartbroken at the idea that Maddy, who is still in her early 20s, could possibly have cancer. We went into the surgery with a lot of hope and peace that everything would be okay. The surgeons came and told us that no cancer was visible at all. We were so relieved!

We held our breath as samples from her surgery were sent to the lab for further testing just to make sure there really wasn't any cancer. Unfortunately, the results came back and traces of cancer were found. Needless to say, Maddy and our family have been on a rollercoaster ride for the past few months.

Maddy has been diagnosed with stage 1 epithelial ovarian cancer. We could not be more grateful that it was caught so early. The doctors have recommended chemotherapy along with other medical procedures to help Maddy have the best chance of being healthy and cancer-free. We are so grateful for all they are doing for Maddy and our family.

As you can imagine, between the E.R. visit, test, major surgery, other unexpected procedures, the medical bills are already starting to add up.  Even with insurance, having to think about how to pay for all of these bills has been overwhelming and stressful for Maddy and her husband, Taylor.  They have been gracious enough to let us start this GoFundMe for them.

We hope that by starting this account, we can help to eliminate at least a part of the financial burden that Maddy and Taylor are having to face during this fight against cancer. We are so grateful for any help and support that you can give.

Thank you SO VERY MUCH to all of our family members, friends, and any "strangers" who have been with us and will continue to be here cheering for our sweet Maddy. We love you!

Love,

Maddy's Family
