I will be buying a 16-24 passenger Shuttle Bus and a Limo to provide transportation to locals and tourists to the Mendocino Coast.
My vehicles will be available to charter for Weddings, Local Events, Wine and Beer tours. I also plan on organizing trips to Casinos, Shopping, Fairs, Concerts and Shows.
I have lived on the Mendocino Coast for 15 years and I am a Northern California Native. I have had a Commercial Driver's License for much of the past 30 years. I pride myself on safe, distraction free driving whenever I am behind the wheel of any vehicle
I started driving a 24 passenger bus for the Retirement Residence where I was Activities Coordinator. I quickly developed a reputation with the elders that Every Ride was a Scenic Ride.
I drove for a number of years for Mendocino Transit Authority (MTA). I did short haul and long haul runs, as well as their Dial a Ride cab service. Every Spring and Summer MTA was hired to do dozens of charter jobs. I signed up to drive all kinds- Wedding transportation, Wine Tours, and local event shuttles, such as the Salmon BBQ, WineSong and more. I drove the Trolley, 20 passenger buses and even the 30 passenger buses for activities up and down the coast.
I found I really enjoyed being a part of special events, and would often dress up and decorate the inside of my bus to match the event or season. I would also customize a mix of music appropriate to the event. I also drove a Limo for Mendocino Wine Tours, and recently have done some fill in driving of Sprinter and Transit Vans for Mendo Insider Tours.
I left MTA in April of 2017. A few months later my supervisor from MTA called me to tell me that they are no longer doing private charters and now was the time for me to realize my dream of running my own Charter business.
Since then I have been talking to many people about my plans and have been met with great enthusiasm. Once word was out I started receiving calls and in person requests asking to book me for upcoming events. I have been collecting information and data and I feel confident that this will be very successful.
Those of you who know me know I am a creative and organized person who approaches everything I do with mindfulness and positive energy. For example, I have been managing the Fort Bragg Certified Farmers Market for seven years. It has grown from a successful community market to the strongest and highest grossing market in Mendocino County. I have the ability to see the big picture and stay focused on the greater good. I love being of service to our community and our visitors.
The money I raise here will be put forward to help me secure funding of about $50,000 from the Economic Development and Finance Corporation. I will purchase late model pre-owned vehicles to start. I will also use the money for the various required licenses and permits, insurance, customization, advertising etc.
A ride with Julie's Trips & Tours will be more than just transportation. Each trip will include customization, appropriate beverages or snacks, and local information. The ride will be a part of the event, not just getting to and from it.
Each person who offers any amount of financial support will receive my great appreciation. Those who are able to offer over $200. will be invited on a supporters group trip. Investments of over $500 will receive two invitations to a supporters group trip and Investments of over $1000. will receive four invitations or a substantial discount on Chartering from me for your special event. All donations over $100 will be able to name a seat (until seats are all named). Of course anyone is welcome to waive their thank you gift and I will instead apply the time to doing some transportation for a charity or local group that would not be able to afford the charter fees in your honor.
Whatever you are able to give, please know it will be used in an ethical and prudent manner to start and build my new business venture.
I would like to be up and running in time for the summer 2018 wedding and event season.
I have the experience, the heart, the creativity and the drive to succeed. The time is ripe as there will be a lot of new charter business available with MTA no longer taking private charters. Tourism to our coast is growing, I will be there working with other local businesses to get people where they are going safely and in style.
