As The New York Times reported last week, Jed Shafer has spent the last 15 years helping adolescents get their high school equivalency diplomas.

For the last 10 years, he made $70,000 in on-time payments to pay off the student loans he took out to do this great work.

He believed that his payments were being applied to a federal program for public servants that would forgive the rest of his student loan debt.

He recently learned that he would need to start his decade of payments all over again, because his past payments don't count towards the program.

Jed's story got to me.  I reached out to him through the NY Times and offered to donate some money.   His response:  "I don't know what your family and/or financial situation is, and I would hate for anyone to do something on my behalf that potentially damaged their way of life or their family's comfort and future.
I couldn't in good conscience do this, regardless of my own situation."

He's that kind of guy.

I want to help Jed because he has unselfishly helped others in need and he worked so hard to  responsibly repay his student loan debt.

You can read more about Jed's story here:

All of your donations (except for gofundme's standard fees) will go staight toward's Jed's student loan payments.

Thank you so much for reading this.  I hope you will consider supporting my goal.
