Helping Hoiers

My friends Brenda (a five year cancer survivor) and Josh have had a very rough year with medical issues and are struggling financially.   After three years of searching for a diagnosis, their 14 year old son was sent to Mayo Clinic this last summer and they found out he had POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachychardia Syndrome).  He spent most of his 7th grade year in the homebound program as he was unable to attend school. 

 James has  very expensive treatments that are not covered by insurance.  Although he continues to struggle with this syndrome, these treatments allow him to be a kid again which includes attending school again, laughing and being himself.  The family also spent money on travel expenses and lodging while working with a team at Mayo Clinic which was a huge expense for them. 

Less then two weeks after James's diagnosis, Josh was hospitalized for blood clots in his lungs.  There were additional expenses including unpaid days for Brenda and a high insurance deductible. Brenda is working a full time job and six months ago she took on a part time job 3-4 nights a week to try to catch up on medical bills.  There are some days she has worked from 3 am until 9 pm in hopes of catching up on these bills.   Then in December Cody their middle son was rushed to the doctor in the night and had his appendix removed in which Brenda missed more days of work.  Josh has been disabled since 2000 when he suffered from a stroke.  


 I know the family is working hard to pay their medical bills but the bills keep piling up.  Brenda and Josh are so kind and incredibly generous themselves.  They are a family that is active in their community helping with others fund raisiers as well as their son's football activities.  They have had recent circumstances that have set them back financially. 

Please consider helping this amazing family get back on their feet with their medical bills.    Show them some love and support.
