Helping Willy with Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,

As some of you may know, Willy has had some medical issues with his heart. In October 2013, he started having some concerning symptoms that ultimately lead to him going to the hospital, where they found 4 blocked arteries around his heart. His condition was life threatening and doctors decided at the time the best solution was to do a procedure called angioplasty and stent placement in his blocked arteries, which greatly improved blood flow through the coronary artery and the heart. This procedure helped avoid the need for coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG). Being that Willy was only age 29 at the time and has maintained a healthy lifestyle, it came as a shock and surprise to all of us including the medical staff, who were not used to seeing someone of such a young age with this condition. Willy's medical condition caused him to take time off work to focus on his health, which unfortunately set him back financially. With all of the hospital bills and without being able to work to pay for his bills, Willy has had some stressing obsticles to deal with on top of his health issues. Additionally, he was now having to take medication for the rest of his life to help with his condition.

Since then, Willy was able to get back on his feet and back to work to provide for his family. It has been 4 years now and everything appeared to be going well. Willy looked healthy as ever and has been doing everything possible to live a healthy life, from eating a healthier diet, to taking his medication and attending all his doctor appointments to monitor his condition. Willy recently went back to school in efforts to finish his degree in engineering, while working a full time job. He's also been applying to other jobs in efforts to expand his paycheck, including a job with Dept. of Water and Power (DWP) and as a Longshoreman.

Everything seemed to be going his way and he's worked very hard to better his life over all. He was studying for his finals and he recently got contacted by DWP about an interview for a job, and also was in his last steps of becoming a longshoreman, which is a very difficult job to get. Unfortunately life had other plans for Willy, as it does for many of us.

On 11/13/17, Willy started having symptoms again and he was not able to go to work. As his symptoms worsened, he ended up going back to the hospital where he received terrible news about his arteries being blocked again. Scar tissue buildup around the stents caused his arteries to be blocked and Willy was on the verge of suffering a massive heart attack. Fortunately he listened to the warnings his body was giving him and got to the hospital just in time.

On 11/22/17, Willy underwent a major 6 hour operation. Willy needed triple bypass coronary artery surgery to repair the blocked arteries around his heart. Thank God our prayers were heard and doctors assured us that his surgery went well without any complications.

Willy is currently recovering from his surgery, which unfortunately will take several months. As Willy recovers, he will not be able to work and will have a lot more medical bills to pay. Even with insurance, medical bills can be a financial burden. From doctor’s bills and insurance co-pays, to buying medications, Willy's set-back will leave a major impact on him and his family. Willy is a loving husband to his wife Maggie and a father of two beautiful children, Katelyn and Samantha. He and his wife would not hesitate to help others in a time of need and we are trying to do what we can to help them out in this very difficult time.

As difficult as this is for us to do, we are asking for donations to help with Willy's medical expenses. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. If you are not able to donate, we ask that you continue to have Willy in your prayers and wish him a speedy recovery.

At times like this, Willy and his family should be focusing on healing and support, and not worrying about money and expenses. We’re hoping that we can help take some of the pressure off and allow them to focus on helping Willy get back on the road to his normal activities and life. If you are in a position to donate – any amount would be helpful.

Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts, prayers, hugs, notes and messages.

FYI: Willy and his wife are not yet aware of this 'go fund me' page, but once they find out, I'm sure your support will give them much needed relief knowing they are not alone in this difficult time.

Sincerely,
The Ramirez Family
