Helping Tina Start Over

For decades, Tina Chaippini  has made the Rehoboth area her home. Many of you know her as the longest running server at Irish Eyes. She can be found there five days a week, always a half hour early, always doing three things at once and always with a kind word for“her regulars.” Between her tenure at Irish Eyes and her previous job at the Lamp Post, Tina has “taken care of” thousands of people in Lewes and Rehoboth  

Nearly twenty years ago, Tina scrimped and saved and bought a condo at Beach Haven. Winters can be difficult for a server at the beach butTina worked hard to provide a cozy home for herself and her “furmily.” Early Friday morning her life was changed forever when a fire started in a neighboring unit. The fire was contained after several hours but by then the damage was done. All of Tina’s possessions were gone and her home was ruined. Awakened by firefighters, she escaped with her life but little else. Even then all Tina cared about was her precious kitties. Ten hours later, armed with flashlights and a search party, she found her “babies” still hiding in the wet  dark ruins. Now Tina and her kitties need our help.

This community has wowed us in previous times of need and we are asking you once more to come together to help one of our own. We believe that the condos will be rebuilt but current estimates are that Tina will be out of her home for at least a year, during which time she is still responsible for her mortgage payment. She needs help with living expenses and to replace all of her belongings. Please consider giving what you can to help her get back on her feet. Let’s take care of Tina like she’s taken care of so many of us!
