Shyann's Journey to Recovery

Donation protected
Shyann Freitas is a sweet, loving 14 year old girl from Kalaheo, Kaua'i.  She enjoys playing volleyball and spending time with family & friends.

However, on Sept. 2, 2018, Shyann was in a terrible accident where she traumatically broke both feet.  She was rushed to Wilcox Memorial Hospital ER via ambulance, where the doctors worked diligently on saving her right foot which was crushed.  Her left foot suffered multiple broken bones as well.
On Sept. 7, after multiple surgeries here on Kaua'i, the doctors decided that Shyann be medevac by Air Ambulance to Kapiolani Women's & Children's Hospital on Oahu where she underwent more surgeries.  Unfortunately, they were unable to save her right foot...which led to amputation.

Shyann is currently still at Kapiolani Women's & Children's Hospital  scheduled for more surgeries and trying her best to recover.  Everyday is a struggle with physical therapy but she shows progress.  Unfortunately, when Shyann starts to feel a little better, another surgery is scheduled.   She also needs to undergo fitting for a prosthetic.

We thank you for taking the time to read about Shyann's story.  Due to the overwhelming cost of medical bills and travel, we are graciously asking for your support in helping Shyann move forward on her journey to recovery.  We understand that this will be a long journey, but with the help of family & friends like you we know that this sweet, loving, and active 14 year old  girl will be able to do the things she once loved!
