Helping Puerto Rico Rise Again

“Donde come uno, comen dos……“When there is enough for one to eat, you can provide for two.”

This is a Spanish saying my grandma always told me growing up.  It’s about sharing and looking out for one another.

No one should go hungry and my people in Puerto Rico are.

My heart is broken with the devastation that has hit Puerto Rico.  It’s crushed knowing that my flesh and blood is there suffering and trying to pull their lives together after such massive destruction to their world as they knew it. My grandmother, aunt, uncle, cousins and lots of extended family still live on the island and they need help.

It’s been a week and they have no electricity (read…no refrigeration for food), limited access to water (none clean), spotty wifi for communication and no stores are open or stocked for bare essentials. They are cut off.

While caravans of emergency supplies have reached Puerto Rico, none have gotten to Vega Alta.

Provisions are running low and they are hungry and thirsty and in need of so much immediately.

It takes a village and I am counting on you.  My family needs it. Our people need it. God Bless.
