Helping our mate Gianni - Aiutando il nostro amico

Our mate Gianni brightens up the day of everyone he meets.

He is caring, loud, outgoing, funny and takes the time to get to know you. Not just get to know you but really understand you.

When Gianni walks into a room he fills it with his presence. He leaves an impression on everyone he meets even if it is just for a moment.

Devastatingly, Gianni contracted meningococcal meningitis on Saturday 3 August 2019 and has been in a medically induced coma since then with swelling in the brain.

Gianni’s mum, Rosalba, and sister, Lorella, have rushed to Australia from Italy to be by his side. They have never been overseas and had to organise emergency passports and visas.

Gianni's mum raised Gianni and his siblings on her own from when they were a very young age after losing her husband far too early. Rosalba continues to be the sole carer for Gianni's adult brother who is unable to live independently and was unfortunately unable to make the trip to be with his brother.

It was Gianni’s dream to have his mother and sister here so he could take them around and show them the beauty of Melbourne and Australia, a place Gianni has called home for 5 years. It is a tragedy that their first trip overseas is under these circumstances. 

Gianni has been supported in hospital by his partner, Jess, who is doing an incredible job. She has recently arrived from England and has little family in Australia to support her during this tough time.

Just when things were looking up for Gianni - a great girlfriend, a great job, renting an apartment close to the city - this beast of a disease attacked him.

Gianni’s employer, EY, has been a magnificent help in offering to provide Gianni’s family and Jess with accommodation, food and transport. However, this help will expire so we would like to support them further to take some burden off the family during this difficult time.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to help Gianni’s family during this stressful period. We would like to help the family with the cost of flights, accommodation close to the hospital and provide some meals and transport for the family and Jess.

Il nostro amico Gianni illumina e rallegra la giornata di tutti quelli che incontra.

È premuroso, rumoroso, estroverso, divertente e si assicura di aver tempo per conoscerti.  Non solo conoscerti, ma capirti davvero fino in fondo.

Quando Gianni entra in una stanza, la riempie della sua presenza.  Lascia la sua impronta su tutti quelli che incontra, anche se è solo per un momento.

Devastante, Gianni ha contratto la meningite meningococca sabato 3 agosto 2019 ed è in coma farmacologico indotto per drenare con cateteri il liquido formatosi al cervello.

La mamma di Gianni, Rosalba e la sorella, Lorella, si sono precipitate in Australia dall'Italia per stare al suo fianco.  Non sono mai stati all'estero e hanno dovuto organizzare passaporti e visti di emergenza.

La mamma di Gianni ha cresciuto lui, suo fratello e sua sorella da sola da quando erano molto piccoli, dopo aver perso suo marito troppo presto.  Rosalba continua ad essere l'unica badante del fratello adulto di Gianni che non è in grado di vivere in modo indipendente e purtroppo non è stato in grado di fare il viaggio per stare con suo fratello.

Il sogno di Gianni era avere sua madre e sua sorella qui, così da poterle portare in giro e mostrare loro la bellezza di Melbourne e dell'Australia, un posto che Gianni ha chiamato casa da 5 anni.  È una tragedia che il loro primo viaggio all'estero sia in queste circostanze.

Gianni è supportato in ospedale dalla sua compagna Jess, che sta svolgendo un lavoro incredibile.  È arrivata di recente dall'Inghilterra e ha solo qualche parente in Australia per sostenerla in questo momento difficile.

Proprio quando le cose andavano bene per Gianni - una brava fidanzata, un ottimo lavoro, un appartamento in affitto nel quale convivevano vicino la città - questa bestia di malattia lo attaccò.

Il datore di lavoro di Gianni, EY, è stato di grande aiuto nell'offrire alloggio, cibo e trasporti alla famiglia di Gianni e la sua ragazza Jess.  Tuttavia, questo aiuto scadrà, quindi vorremmo supportarli ulteriormente per aiutare la famiglia in questo momento difficile.

Il nostro obiettivo è raccogliere $10.000 per aiutare la famiglia di Gianni durante questo periodo stressante.  Vorremmo aiutare la famiglia per ripagare il costo dei voli, alloggio vicino all'ospedale e fornire alcuni pasti e trasporti per la famiglia e Jess.
