Helping Jayda Nagy

Hi, my name Is Randy Martin.  I am a Captain on the Melfort Volunteer Fire Department.  One of our members, Kevin Nagy who has been a volunteer on our department for the last 14 years, needs our help!

On May 20, Kevin’s 14 year old daughter, Jayda, called her dad to let him know she was leaving school once again because she wasn’t feeling well, and had a fever. This pattern had been happening more frequently since last fall.  Three COVID test that showed negative results. Kevin thought possibly issues at school, making her not want to be there; however, fevers started happening.  This time the two headed to outpatients at Melfort Hospital; something had to be wrong. 

At the hospital, an overall assessment and bloodwork determined that there was definitely something wrong. Within a short time, Jayda was in an air ambulance on her way to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.

12 days in the hospital, with her dad by her side every minute, Jayda was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis; her body’s immune system is turning against her liver cells. This young 14 year old needs a liver transplant, and as soon as possible.

Melfort and friends, the Nagy family needs our support to help them get through this next unexpected, and very difficult time.  They are scared  for their daughter, and need to concentrate on getting her all the help she needs.

Jayda will need to make several trips to Edmonton Children’s Hospital.  Her first trip will be as soon as finances can be arranged.  This initial trip will be for an assessment of her organs; to be sure her body, and organs, is ready for a transplant.  Once this assessment is complete, the next one is the big one; the transplant, which will result in a long stay, and then follow up trips after.

Kevin will need to be away from work to be with Jayda, his huntingand fishing buddy… his baby girl!  With the loss of wages, the accruing expenses, and the unknown, we are reaching out to you for anytype of support you can give.  Please help support this family, so Jayda can live a long, healthy and active life.
