Helping Jan C. White Fight Cancer
Donation protected
In August 2017 Jan was diagnosed with Stage IV adenocarcinoma Colon cancer with Peritoneal (the lining of the abdominal cavity) metastases and distant lymph node involvement. Her prognosis wasn’t good. Since her diagnosis she has had 3 surgeries plus 10 tough rounds of chemo. Her poor prognosis in Montgomery, along with her willingness to fight for herself and her two boys, gave her no choice but to travel to MD Anderson in Houston, TX.
This was her best chance at survival and the fight of her life was on.
So far, her 10 rounds of Chemo has done its job and everything is shrinking. This has now made it possible for her to go back to MD Anderson for her biggest surgery to date.
During this surgery she will have her primary tumor removed, a colon resection, all tumors visible will be removed, possible spleen and appendix removal, then HIPEC.
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment that is delivered directly to the abdomen during surgery. Unlike systemic chemotherapy delivery, which circulates throughout the body and blood steam, HIPEC delivers warmed chemotherapy directly to cancer cells in the abdomen.
Jans’ surgeon at MD Anderson is one of few surgeons in the United States practicing the innovative HIPEC procedure. The surgery she will have will take 10-12 hours to complete and her recovery will take 3-6 months.
All donations will Help Jan with her travel expenses which will include an extended stay in Houston of which she will be an outpatient and having to stay in the area which is all out of pocket to her.
We also ask for you continued prayers for safe travels and for her doctors and caregivers that God’s hand will be in every step.
