Helping Hands, A Benefit for Jack Barefoot

On August 5, 2020, my brother Jackson Barefoot was in a horrific, life changing accident. While volunteering at my uncles meat shop, he accidentally got his dominant right hand caught in a meat grinder resulting in the loss of all 4 fingers and severe trauma to his thumb. He was driven to the Bowling Green Medical center, and then stat flown to Jewish hospital in Louisville for emergency hand surgery. He was in surgery for 8 hours where they attempted to reattach his fingers, but were only successful at reattaching his ring finger onto what use to be his pinky. He was then kept in the hospital for an additional 7 days, due to the new pinky finger still being in such rough shape. They were finally able to release Jackson home after a week in the hospital, but we are still unsure if the pinky is going to be viable at this time due to such severe trauma. Throughout all of these trials and life changing events, Jackson has stayed calm, positive and optimistic. He has held fast in his strength and trust in the Lord, and has never doubted what Gods plans are for him. Jackson has always been such a good, kind, God fearing man. He enjoys sports, specifically basketball and hockey, he loves his family and friends, and has always been active in his church. After the accident, Jackson posted a picture online talking about his love for the Lord and his strength and trust in him during this time, and that post touched very many people and showed them just how strong, resilient and God fearing Jackson is. Although all Jackson requested was love and prayers, so many people have reached out asking how else they can support him. With Jack’s permission, we decided to start this gofundme. Since this was an accident that occurred while volunteering, he will receive no workman’s comp and no financial assistance. All money donated will go directly to Jackson, to use for future necessities helping him adjust to his new normal without his full right hand.
