Help After COVID-19 Death

Donation protected
Hi everyone!

As some of you may have already read on my Instagram story, one of my close colleagues lost her mother to complications stemming from COVID-19 two weeks ago.

Jenessa's mom was the the one always reminding her and her twin sister, Jessica to practice good hand washing techniques, social distancing, and other good hygiene habits set by the CDC.

On the day of her death, her mother was driving with Jessica, but suddenly started swerving and out of concern Jessica asked if she could drive instead. Her mother pulled over, but by that time she was so weak she could not even talk clearly. Luckily, she was able to pull over and Jessica was able to get her mother to the passenger side seat and drive to Jenessa's apartment.

The sisters assumed their mother was suffering from hypoglycemia as they know she is a diabetic, so they gave her something to increase her blood sugar. But her condition only worsened. They called paramedics and discovered she was instead experiencing hypertension, hyperglycemia, and was having difficulty breathing. Their mother was rushed to the hospital. There, she was tested for COVID-19 and was found to be positive. The staff attempted to keep her breathing and when she slipped away, tried to resuscitate her and though the staff administered respiratory therapies; sadly their mom passed away that night. She was only 53 years old.

Jenessa returned to work on April 20, 2020 - roughly two weeks after the passing of her mother. I know after speaking with her that though it is somewhat of a needed distraction to be at work,  as is common with death Jenessa is of two minds. She is still in need of some more time to grieve. Unfortunately, given the current economic situation, this is not possible for her, her sister, and grandparents.

I know we are ALL going through financial hardships right now, but if you can afford to give anything, and I mean anything at all to help provide relief for this family, it would be a glimmer of light in what seems to be a tunnel of darkness.

Though I was never fortunate enough to meet Jenessa's mother, if she was anything like the daughter she raised, I know she must have been a warm, bubbly, ready to lend a helping hand, full of joy, and kind woman.

If you are able to help, please donate to this family. If you are unable to, please forward this fundraiser to someone who can help them financially. Thank you so much and please keep them and all the families affected by COVID-19 in your prayers.
