Helping Gaby Harpel after the duplex fire

We are amazed by the outpouring of support Gaby received from family, friends, coworkers, classmates, and strangers!   Thank you for your support and concern for Gaby and her roommates.   Since the fundraiser met and surpassed her goal, we have shut off donations.   Thank you! 

On April 4, 2022, the duplex where Gaby lives in Urbana caught fire. Everyone is okay (even the animals). However, she lost everything (and did not have renter’s insurance). It will be months before anyone can move back in – major restoration needs to occur first. If you want to help, Gaby needs to replace everything (clothes, printer, iPad, monitor, furniture, everything!), in addition to finding temporary housing. As you can imagine, she is heartbroken and overwhelmed by the tangible and symbolic losses. Thank you for your support!
