Helping Artis southern cuisine and steakhouse

Hi I’m Jadell Whitfield owner of Artis Southern Cuisine and Steakhouse located at 1363 Lower Broadway Schenectady, New York. I opened my doors In February 2020 after taking over a building from my mom after her liquor license was revoked due to a incident that happened outside of her establishment in December 2018. When I opened COVID hit and I was faced with the difficult task of trying to maintain as a new restaurant opening during COVID. Right after COVID hit I decided to take on the role of providing food for local essentials workers around Schenectady County. I did my first 50 meals drop off to Ellis Hospital ICU from there I donated meals to Mohawk Ambulance, Schenectady Fire Department, Kingsway Nursing Home, Schenectady Waste Department, Glendale Nursing Home, and Brookedale Nursing Home. We also did a back to school giveaway to the youth in the Hamilton Hill area and Bellevue area of Schenectady We also provided a free haunted house for the kids on Halloween.We have been a staple of giving back to our community that we take great pride being a part of. We have made many improvements to the building that even has been noticed by the Schenectady Gazette so much so that they wrote a very positive review on our food and establishment. On January 20 2021 our Liquor license application went in front of the New York State Liquor Authority Commission Board and they voted to deny our license based off alleged affiliation from the incident at my  Mom’s Bar that took place in December of 2018.  Not once did they bring up my reference letters that I submitted on our behalf nor did they take into account all the good deeds I did in my community during these very very hard times. They didn’t even know if I had been open the last 11 months while I held a temp license even tho I renewed my license every month since May.  So now our fight is on and we need help from our community with this task. We are asking the community to help us raise 10k in legal fees to help fight for a license that I feel we are deserving of. We work really hard on following all the rules and codes during this very tough time of trying to maintain a restaurant during this time
