Helping a Tyee Family Recover

Elisha and her family have lived in their home since Elisha was a small child. In fact, the home was once her grandmother's. They've fought to protect their home from development and are activists for affordable housing. Elisha (and two of her neighbors) made this video documenting their advocacy. You can hear Elisha explain what home means to her by watching the video. 

On August 19, Elisha's home tragically caught fire and everything she and her family owned has been destroyed.  The cause of the fire is unknown, but it is believed that it originated in a grassy area behind their home. All of Elisha's family is safe, although her mother is dealing with some health concerns unrelated to the fire. 

Elisha and her family are not sure where they will go, but they have said they would, with much gratitude, accept the support of their community in this difficult time. 

Please consider donating to this fund so that Elisha and her parents can replace their basic necessities like clothes and shoes, toothbrushes etc. and other basic household items and pay for temporary housing as they recover from this tragedy.
