Help Victims of A Drunk Driver Heal & Rebuild

Donation protected

On November 22, 2020, a man named Ian Farley was operating a Chevy Silverado truck while under the influence. At 1:00PM EST, he was recklessly driving and crossed over into the other lane, and collided head-on and totaled a Kia Spectra, completely trapping two people inside: my Godmother and her 16-year-old son.

The Tyngsborough, MA Fire Department arrived at the scene and extracted my Godmother and her son using the Jaws of Life. Both of them were severely hurt with injuries ranging from head injuries to debris lodged into their bodies, to broken bones. They were rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated—the son, whom I refer to as my “god-brother” was able to receive care and was discharged with leg fractures and other minor injuries.

My Godmother, who was driving the vehicle, was transferred to a Boston, MA hospital due to having severe and extensive injuries. As of Monday, 11/23, the family is relieved to report that their mom is in a stable condition after surgery was performed, however, there is a long road ahead for their mom to recover. The entire family has been shaken emotionally, physically, and mentally, so the family as one unit will have a long road ahead of them. My Godmother is currently still at the hospital, where she is under close care by physicians and is continuing to be treated for her injuries. Once she is able to leave the hospital, she will be entering a rehabilitation center for an unknown length of time so that she may get back on her feet (literally.)

So, here’s the part where I ask you all for money (blunt, but at the end of the day, this is what it boils down to.) This family just had their entire world rattled. This is a family so loving, kind, and generous—they’ve cared for ME when I was sick, I stayed at their home when my younger sister was born, and they have been a support system in my life for the last 25 years.

Going forward, they will have extra responsibility, particularly excess financial responsibility. My Godfather just retired. My Godmother is very close to retiring, both after years and years of hard work. After experiencing this tragedy, it would be equally heartbreaking and tragic if they are forced to drain their retirement, especially for something that they weren’t responsible for. Moving forward, they are expected to have less income coming in while my Godmother heals. As we have all experienced, everyday finances & more stops for no one and still need to be paid. This includes anything and everything—food, gas, and utility bills; this doesn’t even begin to cover the medical bills that will arise from both hospitals and the rehabilitation centerfor the cost of care, and we all also know how much healthcare can cost in this country.

So I am asking, politely and sincerely, for help in any way anyone can offer. Every cent helps and goes toward helping this wonderful, kind, loving family heal, and so they can breathe a little easier with some of those finances being able to be covered. That being said, we are in the midst of a global pandemic with thousands of people that are now unemployed—to those that have lost their income, I wish you well and hope that you can find employment soon. Because not everyone may be able to make a monetary contribution, prayers, thoughts, and even just a share of this page with others can help.

Thank you to all that have taken the time read this through, to those that are planning on donating, to those that have shared this post, to those who have sent good thoughts and prayers, and to those that are keeping this truly wonderful and compassionate family in their mind. We appreciate you.

Warmest Regards,

Aisha
