Helping a friend leave a bad home

This is my friend, who for the sake of his privacy we will call Brian

 

He is currently living in a rather bad situation

 

His mother currently has him stuck since she has control of the disability checks coming to their home which is currently falling apart. Keep in mind, this is not to try to fix the house or hire a lawyer to get her removed. He just wants to make like a tree and leave. He has a friend on the West Coast that is working to get Brian here an office job and is even willing to help further by housing Brian and his partner in his guest room as he gets started at the new job. The main thing we need here is money for a rental truck and gas to get from his home in Alabama to Washington. They plan to rent a U-Haul truck and drive the whole trip, so we are hoping to minimize any unneeded costs. The reason why I am making this and not him, is because his mother has full control of his finances at the moment. He has no bank account of his own and the closest he has is some crypto he keeps entirely secret from her to try and get the odd thing smuggled around her. Hell, the main way we have been communicating is through Signal since at first she also had control over his laptop and phone till I got him a burner phone to use secretly.

 

He needs your help to get out from a controlling and manipulative mother who has cared nothing for his wellbeing outside of keeping him penned in and alive enough to keep collecting his social security disability check. He has a shot at a better life, please help him get there.

Unfortunately we are in an odd place where we need to keep this secret from his mother, AND publish it far and wide to get supporters. Please spread this as much as you can within your own groups of friends.
