Helping a best friend in need.

My best friend Jessika has once again been faced with her failing kidney. This has been an on going battle for many years. She has been in and out of hospitals many times because of this. She also has a 13 year old son that has had to stay with family since she can not be home with him right now. This is her current situation as she posted on facebook this morning from her hospital room.

"Update 11.05.2017:

Yesterday I stopped my IV pain meds. I felt like a lot of decisions were being made for me instead of with me. I needed the pain because it brought me clarity. I needed a clear head to decide what to do.

I’ve been told by several doctors that my kidney will kill me. If I leave the hospital as is, my life expectancy is days. Something has to be done, and I’ve been going through this for almost 20 yrs. I’m not ready to go yet. I have too much to live for. Soooo...

The urology attending came in this morning, and we discussed the best course of treatment for me. He and I both feel that a stent is a bandaid over a bullet hole. It’s a temporary fix, if that, and neither of us are convinced it’s even going to help as I’ve done this procedure several times before with no success.

Bypassing the stent also cuts out about two weeks to this process. Time is just something that I don’t have because as this is going on, I’m not working, so no bills are being paid. This is a huge source of stress for me. I’m currently running the risk of leaving the hospital and being homeless. I also have a son to take care of. Time is not something I have to give right now. Thankfully, my job is waiting for me to heal, but no work, no paychecks.

The game plan has now changed. We will be doing a final drainage test tomorrow and then will proceed with either a plasty style repair or a full on removal of the kidney. I’m finally going to be rid of this!

Please, please, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. This is the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life. "

Since she has been in the hospital for almost a week now and expecting to be there longer, she has not been able to work. There is not a time frame of when she can return to work due to illness, surgery (possibly more than one), and healing time. Her bills are piling up. As you read in her post, she will probably leave the hospital with her and her son being homeless. PLEASE HELP!!! She is a hard worker and would do anything for anyone. She is the founder of an organization called "The Scarletts" which donates time and effort to help the homeless and anyone they can.

Please. This happens to families all to often and it's not fair or right. Please help.
