Fundraiser to fix Traci's eyes.
This is Traci Balza's Story
She lives in Abrams Wisconsin on a small hobby farm. She likes to do
crafts, paint and hang with the goats and horses, she also has three
rescue dogs and volunteers for her local Humane Society
Traci has an autoimmune disease. She was put on medication to treat
her autoimmune disease. That medication caused fast growing
cataracts to form in both of her eyes. She had to have surgery to have
those removed. In the procedure a surgeon removed the cloudy lens
and put a plastic lens inside the lens capsule membrane.
Unfortunately, Traci falls into the 40% of people who, when they have cataract surgery, the capsule membrane thickens, causing their vision to become cloudy.
So for her, seeing is like looking through smudgy glasses all of the time,
she also gets a lot of glare from lights.
The only way to treat this condition is to have another surgery called
yag laser posterior capsulotomy. In this procedure the surgeon cuts a
small hole with the laser that lets light through again.
Untreated her vision is getting progressively worse and she will
eventually lose her sight.
The surgery costs $8190 for both eyes. Traci does have insurance,
however, because she is paying for her previous medical bills, and
hospitalization from last year, she is unable to meet the deductible
which would be about $4000.
And that is why we are here, please help us help Traci to get her eyes
fixed once and for all, so she can continue to do the things she loves.
