5 Miles

The Equator School is located about 5 miles from the Equator in the Mpigi Disctrict. Many of the children walk 5 miles a day to and from school. Many have no shoes to trek over this rough terrain and hurt their feet, making their journey to school difficult and painful. These children are brave and determined to receive an education to try to improve their life. 

Ronald Katongole, is a generous man with a big heart who lives in Kampala, Uganda, and works for the Equator Junior School and Orphanage. We met Ronald on our first trip to Uganda in February of this year, he was our guide and quickly became our friend. In conversation I mentioned I was a teacher and we began discussing schools in Uganda and our hearts were immediately taken with stories of these brave children fighting for their future. Our goal is to raise funds to provide 180 children with a pair of shoes. A used pair of shoes may be purchased in Uganda for $5. We are also collecting donations to take with us on our next trip to Uganda. Every penny raised will go directly to the school to help all of the children.
