Help Emily Raise $ for Semester at Sea

Welcome everyone! This is a page to help fund my trip through Semester at Sea's Spring 2013 voyage. Every $ helps, and I will do my best to match EVERY donation up to $250 (almost all of my biweekly paycheck)! I've been trying to go abroad for years, starting with Germany during my sophomore year of high school, but something always gets in the way---lack of funds, lack of support, or just life. I'm a rising Senior at The Ohio State University and I really need your help to make this dream into a reality. 

Things I need to pay for:

- $22,500 program fee

- $4000 OSU tuition fee (yes, I still have to pay OSU tuition in order to study abroad or risk my credits not transferring)

- Plane ticket to San Diego (estimated $500)

- Plane ticket home from Barcelona, Spain (estimated $1700)

- Textbooks (estimated $450)

Things I have already paid for:

- The $150 OSU study abroad fee

- The $500 deposit to reserve my cabin on the ship

Things I would LOVE to have, but will either go without due to funds (though I'd accept donations of them):

- A digital camera with higher than 400 ISO and faster shutter speed (1/2000 would be dreamy)

- Two durable duffel bags

Things I will get out of this experience:

- 15 semester credit hours, mainly covering topics such as Sustainable Entrepreneurship, International Management, Leadership, Development Economics and Emerging Markets

- Friends from around the world

- Getting a chance to work with entrepreneurs through Unreasonable at Sea, possibly with a fellowship

- A chance to teach children how to hula hoop in Ghana, or help build a house

- Experience with travel writing and photojournalism

- Meeting local businesspeople and starting a global network

- Visiting 12 countries on three different continents; a true journey around the world

- Sea legs (hopefully!)

I believe I've already shaved $6000 off of the program fee through my pleading and networking. I'm also saving up my money from my two jobs (three in the fall) for personal expenses, books, and travel. ANY and ALL donations will help!
