Help Eleven Battle Cancer

Donation protected

As most of you all know, Eleven, our 2 year old dog, has a large vaginal mass that has been hindering her life for quite some time. Something that we haven't been able to get diagnosed or treated on our own.

When we first adopted Eleven from the shelter, she was such happy and playful dog. All she wanted to do is play all the time. She loved playing with fluffy toys and when we took her outside she would constantly run around in circles in excitement trying to get us to play with her. She just had so much energy!

That was until we started noticing a change in behavior. Over the months that we've had Eleven, she slowly stopped being as playful. She stopped playing with her toys and she no longer ran in circles outside. She would just stand there and stare off into the distance. And that's when we noticed she started developing her vaginal mass and her symptoms began to arise.

At first, based off of her early symptoms, we thought it was just a bad UTI. We took her to a vet and she gave us some meds for it but of course, that didn't change anything.

As the mass started to grow over time, we took her to several other vets to see exactly what was going on but none of them seemed to have an answer for us. No body would just get down and look at the mass that was obviously causing our dog pain. Until we found a vet who seemed to care enough to physically look at what was going on.

Based off of just touching it and feeling it, she said it COULD be TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor), a sexually transmissible cancer, but she wouldn't be able to say for 100% sure until they did a biopsy which she quoted us between $800 - $1200 depending on the circumstances. This was just for the procedure to FIND OUT what it was. Not to actually get rid of the cancerous tumor which she quoted us from $6000 - $10,000.

Hearing this insane number, Emmy and I were absolutely defeated at this point. This was just too much money for us. There was no way we could afford this. So we decided to start searching for a new home for Eleven with hopes that we would find someone who is financially stable enough to give Eleven the love and care she needs and deserves.

But after a couple weeks, things were getting worse and of course, no one came forward to adopt Eleven. But we couldn't wait any longer. She's slowly dying and we just couldn't see her like this anymore.

As a last resort, we decided to do something that we absolutely dreaded. It was time to put her out of her misery.

We got up the next morning, put her in the car, took her on a delicious McDonalds breakfast date, and made our way to a local vet. We've never felt so much dread before but we knew that this was the best for Eleven. And even if it caused us so much pain, it was time for us to say goodbye.

Before the process, the vet has to do an examination to see what's wrong and to make sure we're not just killing an animal for fun. The doctor gives her a full body examination and feels around her tumor and he says it's probably TVT, and of course, he wouldn't know for sure without a proper test.

We told him our situation and everything we've been through to try and get her properly diagnosed and fixed and he listens to every single word. He genuinely seems like he really cares about our situation and Eleven.

He then tells us that he may be able to provide a solution for us. He says the mass is so large that he could probably just take a piece off right there and send it to get tested for only $150, a price that is significantly more affordable than our previous quote. And if it comes back as TVT, we could give her 6-8 rounds of Vincristine as well as weekly blood panels and she would be cured. Hearing this, seemed like Christmas miracle.

We thought the least we could do for Eleven is get this tested and find out 100% sure that it is in fact, TVT. And from there we can make our decision on what to do.

We ran the test and about a week later, as suspected, we find out it is in fact TVT and the Chemo process is so much more affordable than the previous quotes we've been given.

So now we're here. Finally there's hope for Eleven and we have the opportunity to get back the playful and happy Eleven that we adopted many months ago.

If you can help us through this process and make this Christmas miracle become a reality for us, Emmy, Eleven, and I would be so incredibly thankful. This has been such a long journey for us and we're so excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you everyone who has supported us through this tough time so far.
