Help Fix Stray Calico's Legs!

Thank you for checking out Calico's story. Over the past couple of months, I've been feeding this stray kitty who I call "Calico" but she is also known as "Splotchy Cat", "Sweet Pea", "Calicat", and my nephew calls her "Sweet Taco". On Monday, November 10th, Calico was napping on top of my neighbor's garage door. When my neighbor closed the garage door as he left, he didn't realize Calico was up there. When he returned 10 minutes later, he found Calico crying out in pain, hanging there with her body stuck between the garage door and the door frame. When he was able to free her, she fell down and "ran" off, dragging her entire lower half behind her. Luckily he was able to catch her. When I found out about it later that evening, I knew I had to bring her in and get her some help. I took Calico to see my amazing vet, Dr Natalie Smith, at the Central Houston Animal Hospital this morning. X-rays revealed that her left hip has been dislocated and the hip socket has been damaged. She will need surgery to repair it because unlike humans, it's very difficult to put it back in place. Her femoral head will need to be removed. She is also unable

to put weight on her right leg but her x-rays do not show any new fractures on that leg. It does appear that she has an old break that didn't heal properly. Poor girl. They will be doing more tests to find out whether this is spinal/nerve damage related. Calico is scheduled for surgery tomorrow with Dr Smith, who I have complete faith in to do the best for Calico. A rough estimate of the costs to repair her injuries is $1400. Given that she is a stray cat and I already have 3 inside cats of my own, these costs are too much for me to tackle on my own. Calico is the sweetest stray cat I've ever met. All she does is purr and cuddle despite the obvious pain she is in. I couldn't just stand by and watch her suffer. Cali, my neighbors, and I would greatly appreciate any kind of donation you would be willing to give. I know it's a lot to ask with the holidays coming up, but this poor kitty deserves a chance. Thank you so much in advance. Meow :)
