Help Bo Fight Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Bo is my 22 year old brother who has been diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma (malignant brain tumor.) Please donate or share to help us raise money for his medical fund. He is undergoing chemo, radiation, and is in a clinical study at the University of Iowa.

UPDATE 11-21-17:

On Thursday (11-16-17) Bo was officially diagnosed with a high grade (grade 4) glioblastoma. He is beginning treatment on the Monday following Thanksgiving. He will receive chemotherapy, radiation, and also be involved with a clinical study. The clinical study is high doses of vitamin C via infusion. This initial step will last 6 1/2 weeks. After that point we will have more decisions to make regarding his treatment.

The mass they had found was the size of a fist and after surgery the mass is the size of a dime.

Any support you can provide would be amazingly helpful to my brother and my family. Thank you.

Original Story:

On Tuesday night (Halloween) Bo was taken to the ER due to severe headaches, neck pain, and vomiting. Without running tests they sent Bo home after giving him a couple bags of saline with the explanation that he was severely dehydrated and exhausted. (Edit: they did run tests, he had ketones in his urine. They did not run tests such as a CT Scan, etc.)

Wednesday night we took him back to the ER because he was getting worse after he’d had a fairly good morning. At the ER he had a CT Scan which showed a large mass on the right side of his brain just above and behind his ear. An MRI was then done for a more thorough look. He had, had two seizures. One on the way to the ER and one while in the ER.

After a long stay in ER Wednesday into Thursday morning Bo went into neurosurgery before noon. The surgery was expected to take around 5 hours, however, the surgeon completed the surgery within 3.5 hours. The neurosurgeon was able to remove part of the mass and Bo did very well during and after surgery.

They were able to remove almost all of the mass leaving behind a small amount of the tumor because of how close it was to healthy brain tissue.

As of right now (11/6/17) we have not received the pathology report. We were told we may receive the report on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bo already has a team of Oncology doctors that he has met with as it looks as though he will likely need chemo and/or radiation. However, we're trying to remain very positive.

Bo is doing an amazing job at staying positive and is extremely determined that he will come out of this unfortunate situation better than he went in.

The big positive right now is that Bo's headaches are completely gone and he's not in any pain. His surgery site is a little sensitive but other than that he's doing very well.

He's on multiple medications at the moment to make sure the swelling in his brain stays down as well as anti-seizure medications.

Any help that can be sent our way would be amazing and so very appreciated. Bo is doing very well but we have a long road ahead of us and we're already accumulating medical expenses and expenses to make sure Bo is as comfortable as he possibly can be.
