HI friends!! I am starting this Go-Fund on behalf of Ben Hazard. For those of you that know Ben, he is one loyal stand-up guy that goes above and beyond the call of duty for people, no matter who, what, where or why!! Well, now Ben needs us to stand up for him. On June 8, Ben took himself to the ER at Wake Med in Raleigh due to shortness of breath for over 4 days. Upon his admittance through EKG readings, a cardio team of 10 and his explanation of what had been going on, the Wake Med team quickly admitted Ben thinking he had a heart attack. It was not a heart attack but rather a severe Pulmonary Embolism in his lungs. In the doctor’s words, “Massive and Impressive” blood clot. Not words one wants to hear in regards to health complications. Ben was released 6 days later after a procedure that involved catheters put in him with blood thinner medicine pumping in him for 24 hours. We are lucky he is still with us!!!!! Had he waited any longer…..I can’t even type what we would be raising monies for.
As most of you know, Ben has switched careers and is damn happy in his new one!! However, a change in careers means a lapse in your health insurance, unless you can fork over the funds for COBRA (let’s be realistic here anyone that knows, COBRA is waaaaaaay expensive.) This medical incident happened within the first two weeks of Ben’s new job and while Ben was in between insurance policies. This is where he needs our help. His blood thinner medication alone without insurance is 580.00 for a month’s supply. He was given a 17 day supply (free) from the hospital…HE. NEEDS. MORE.
Additionally, his medical bills will be through the roof. He will work with the hospital finance department but still, it is going to be high, as mass tests were run in order to identify what was happening and what was needed to deliver the proper medical process in order to keep Ben alive.
Clearly Ben was not meant to leave us and was meant to move forward with his new path, succeed, and continue to bless us with his presence. Please consider donating to Ben’s medications and medical bills. Every dollar counts. And all donations are greatly appreciated. Our ideal goal is 5000.00 dollars as this will without doubt help alleviate the stress of the necessary medication and offset some of the medical bills.
