Help Mooch Test More Batteries

Overview
Over the past 16 months I have tested over 160 different batteries (almost 500 total), working to expose exaggerated current and capacity ratings and testing the true capabilities of the batteries we use when vaping. These exaggerated ratings not only jeopardize our safety but make it almost impossible to pick the best performing battery for the way we want to vape.
One year ago some awesome vendors and individuals made donations to finance my battery purchases. While this money lasted about six months, it ran out this past March. Since then I have been buying everything myself.
Due to my financial situation and a recent electrical surge that wrecked five power supplies and two chargers I use for testing I can only afford to buy batteries occasionally and have been depending on batteries sent by vendors and battery companies. You might have noticed that I have been posting very few battery tests recently. There is so much more testing that I want to do and that still needs to be done!
Next Six Months of Testing
- Safety and ratings testing of LiPo's from MaxAmps, ThunderPower, Turnigy, etc. Some of these packs are quite expensive and I need two of each.
- Life cycle testing, which battery takes the most abuse?
- Two additional marrying/rotating battery test setups to bring the testing time from months back down to a few weeks.
- Testing of the new batteries that seem to appear every week!
- Battery charger testing.
- Retesting of some of the popular rewrapped batteries to see if any of them have changed what cell they use under the wrap.
- Retesting of the popular Samsung, Sony, and LG batteries to make sure we are still getting decent grade batteries from the vendors. For example, the LG HG2's available this year are definitely not performing as well as the ones available previously.
Where The Money Is Going
I'm hoping that $2,000 will take care of most, if not all, of the above testing list for the next six months. Buying 2-4 of every battery adds up quick!
I'm sure you've noticed though that the amount of money I am asking for is significantly higher than $2,000. Almost of the equipment I use for my vaping battery testing was originally used for testing batteries for my clients. I can't keep moving it back and forth as needed and a lot of it needs to be replaced due to the very hard use it has received over the past 16 months.
The extra money I am asking for will be used to buy replacements for the equipment trashed by that surge and to set up a new dedicated vaping battery/charger test bench. It's not enough money to set up everything but it's a good start. This will allow for a lot more testing to be done since I won't have to share equipment between client testing and vaping battery/charger testing.
I realize that there are people who feel that it is pathetic to ask for money from others to finance something I'm doing. All I can offer is the testing I've done so far. If you'd like to see a lot more of it, cool. If not, I understand.
I will leave it up to all of you to decide where the money goes. Not a penny will go towards this new/replacement equipment and test setup until the donations exceed the $2,000 I'm asking for battery purchases. If you feel what I do is worth the extra money then I look forward to the extra testing I can do for our community!
