Help4hedgehogs Hogspital & support for Patients.

Hello again, my Hedgehog Heroes. Please would you consider helping us to make a difference? I'm raising money in aid of Help4hedgehogs and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.

Help4hedgehogs has been running for four years and every year we have added or done something for the hedgehogs.

In 2019 studies and training for First aid and Hedgehog rehabilitation took place, as well as reworking a shed to save some space and make a Hogspital. We continued working hard to try and get as many hedgehogs back to the wild as possible. Mainly, self funded it was some time before we raised money, thanks to GoFundme for our second incubator, which has saved many lives now. We have since bought one more (& were given one more) and have had some wonderful kind and loving gifts in our times of great need. So many hedgehog heroes's stepped up to the plate to aid us in buying food and milk for the number of hoglets in our care this year (Amazon wishlist) - and I feel humbled by people's kindness and generosity.

In the early days we had six hedghogs through our doors and felt that building an area big enough to house 8 hedgehogs would be plenty, after all it was only for the local hedgehogs in our own area. A sort of community feel to it.

What a total and utter idiot I am!

Around 100 hedgehogs have been through our doors in 2022 already, from London, to Kent - as well as many from our community between Eastbourne and Hastings.

Last year, I spent a large amount of my own money on a fence, so we could create a safe sanctuary for the hedgehogs that are ok and may reproduce but may also not survive in the wild. Three tripod hedgehogs are currently enjoying life in the walled garden, along with two four legged hedgehogs.

DATE - this has now been done!

This, in turn, means the Hedgehogs will need a proper medical facility. I am not talking another wooden shed structure that will need upgrading every five years. I'm talking a purpose block built unit. Let's do it once and do it properly.

Hence, the big ask.

There will be insulation costs, electrical costs, water and drainage costs as well as the building itself. I am estimating £10k - but if there is any money left over - it would still go directly to the care and benefit of the hedgehogs themselves, be it more equipment or veterinary fees.

IF at any time we are financial difficulties, we would of course use these funds to pay a vet bill or for additional food for current patients. However, we also promise that this money would be replaced as and when we can so this Hogspital does become a reality for this area. We are not a charity and therefore do not receive a wage, nor would we ever use hedgehog funds for anything other than hedgehogs.
