Help Youth Activist Daphne Frias Beat Coronavirus

Just a year ago, I met my now best friend and mentor, Daphne Frias. We were at a March For Our Lives conference in Texas and instantly bonded over our passion for social justice. Through this past year, I have had the pleasure of watching Daphne change the world we live in. This is no exaggeration - she has passed gun violence prevention laws, produced a production of The Vagina Monologues, organized the climate march in NYC with Greta Thunberg, fulfilled her position as an elected official, joined a youth council at the UN and so much more. This has all been within the last YEAR. 

As the current pandemic expands, Daphne knew it was quite possible for her to get COVID-19 seeing as her diagnoses of Cerebral Palsy makes her immunocompromised. Just today, she officially got the diagnosis, and Daphne and her family have been quarantined. 


There is no cure for Coronavirus; you just have to let it run its course. But in the meantime, Daphne has to do daily nebulizer treatments to clear her very compromised respiratory system and open her lungs. And with her whole family being quarantined, they have no income. The nebulizer treatments are not financially sustainable and that doesn't even take into account the lack of income for everyday necessities (food, heat, water, taxes, electricity bill from charging her wheelchair, etc). I am quite concerned for their wellbeing and I'm not sure how much longer they can keep up with their needs. They are all doing their best to stay healthy and keep up with the recommended treatments for Daphne. But they shouldn't have to cut corners due to their lack of financial stability.
