Help young mom and newlywed, fight cancer

This fundraiser is for my daughter Shea Peck, age 26, mother of a 5-year-old boy and just married last March 2021 to Zach. Shea & Zach were most eager to start expanding their family but instead of looking forward to getting pregnant, they will be beginning Shea’s battle against cancer!

It started with back pain in October then moved to her stomach in November. She was running a fever one day, and the next, she would be fine. Since she was worried, she went to see the Dr. many times, but no one caught it. They thought she was anemic and started her on Iron. After that, her pain was steadily getting more intolerable. She started having shortness of breath, lack of energy and inability to sleep more than an hour or two at a time and has begun to lose weight.

On a regular Monday morning when she was trying to do her routine of dropping her son off at school and heading to work, the pain was just too much to bear longer; she called her husband, Zach, who was already on his way into work and asked him to turn around and take her to the ER. The ER is where she found out, from the ER physician who did not have much of a bedside manner said, “you have lymphoma you need to call your PCP for an oncology appointment “then left saying, “the nurse will be in with your discharge papers.” HOW HORRIBLE, Shea and Zach looked at each other in shock, trying to process what they had just heard. Shea looked at Zach and said” Lymphoma is Cancer”!

I received the worst call a parent could imagine receiving. I listened to my sweet daughter crying from the car, trying to tell me the thing I could never imagine hearing. CANCER! My head spins…. I had already lost a son back in 2015, and now my daughter tells me this, I wanted to explode into deep sobs. I composed myself and was strong for her, encouraging her & nurturing her to help calm her down, but once I hung up that phone, I broke down just like any mother would, knowing there is a chance she could be losing a child. How could this be happening to my Shea? Why, how, WHY!!???

Our sweet Shea has her battle face on, trying to hide her worry. Worrying about the dwindling of their savings and the pressure to keep working (while she can) to contribute to the home finances. I DON’T WANT HER TO HAVE TO WORRY.

I am starting this fundraiser to ease her worry and focus on getting herself better. To give her all the strength she will need to FIGHT this thing and come out stronger.

These donations will go towards medical expenses, prescriptions, unpaid work leave for both of them, rent, utilities and all the everyday costs to just live while she makes her way through this battle.
