It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, daughter, wife, and friend, Prof. Xiyue Deng. Diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer while seven months pregnant, Xiyue showed unparalleled courage, battling the illness and bringing her beautiful daughter into this world before succumbing to the disease on September 8th, 2023.
Xiyue wasn’t just an admired professor and academic. She was the radiant sun that warmed the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. A beacon of strength, determination, and love, her absence has created an irreplaceable void in our lives.
As the sole breadwinner of her family, her passing is not just an emotional but also a financial blow. She leaves behind two young children, a 6-year-old son and a 2-month-old daughter, and parents in their 60s who have tragically lost their only child.
