Help with Larry's medical bills.

Larry has been struggling from long term medical issues for years, including congestive heart failure and chronic back pain that has left him disabled and unable to work. Additionally, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and bone cancer in February. Social Security disability has been his only source of income, and unfortunately due to the overwhelming costs of cancer treatment and medications, he is very much in danger of being unable to afford ongoing treatments and the medications he needs. Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer, therefore treatment will be necessary for the remainder of his life.

Medicare covers only a portion of his medication expenses, requiring him to pay several hundred dollars a month out of pocket. His portion of the ongoing chemotherapy treatments are approximately $1,000 a month. Larry is in very real danger of being unable to continue treatment if he does not have financial resources available.

Later this month, Larry will also incur additional expense due to a trip to the University of Chicago Hospital to replace a medical device that helps stabilize his blood pressure. He suffered with unstable high blood pressure for years and medication was not successful in treating it. This device significantly reduces the risk of complications such as heart attack or stroke.

As of now, Larry is selling off personal possessions to raise additional funds, but with a limited income he is rapidly falling behind as these medical related expenses begin to snowball.

In addition to medical expenses, Larry is also struggling to hold on to his home due to exorbitant property taxes. He wants nothing more than to be able to spend his remaining time in his home with his dog, Max.
